Share what you have actually learned in the channel

We are an open, community-contributed publication written by the people who run the channel: agency and in-house search marketers. Open does not mean unchecked, though. You need no personal brand and no published clips, but you do need genuine, hands-on experience, something worth a reader’s time, and the commitment to file at least once a month. We read and approve every author personally before they join.

Why Write Here

Reach without the megaphone

Your work goes to the whole readership, not just your own following. The masthead does the distribution.

A page that looks like you

A branded byline and bureau on every article. An owned asset, not another post lost in a feed.

Credibility you can borrow

A vetted, edited masthead lends authority a personal blog cannot. Published here means something.

An evergreen portfolio

Searchable, linkable and permanent. A body of work to show clients and employers, with a quality link back to you.

New business, quietly

Show how you actually think in front of the people who hire. Your filings keep working as inbound long after they publish.

Amplified in the Tuesday Briefing

Your piece goes out to our email readership too, not just the website. One filing, two audiences.

The desk makes you look good

A light edit and proper design on every piece, at no cost. You bring the thinking; we handle how it reads and looks.

We rise together

Every contributor brings an audience, so together we reach far more than any of us alone. None of us has the reach of all of us.

The Bar We Hold

1 year, hands-on

At least 1 year actually running search marketing, with real budgets and real accountability for the outcome. Time in the channel, not years adjacent to it in sales or general marketing.

Evidence, not assertion

Articles built from your own work, with the results to prove it: every data claim backed by a screenshot, anonymised by default and named only with permission. Polish with AI if it helps; the thinking, the argument and the data must be yours. No recycled filler, no sales material, nothing written purely for visibility.

Well written, lightly edited

We want genuinely well-written pieces, so we keep our editing light and add design only where a filing needs it. Each desk has an editor who checks accuracy before it reaches a reader.

A filing a month, minimum

Beyond the quality bar, we ask one commitment: a genuine minimum of one filing a month. It is light enough to sit beside a full-time job, but it is a real commitment. This is a working desk, not a place to publish once and disappear.

Reviewed before you are accepted

No published clips or personal brand required, but we read and approve every author personally before they join. We care about good, original writing, not articles filed for the sake of being seen.

The Contributor Tiers

One filing a month is the minimum we ask of every contributor, the Bronze floor that keeps your byline active. Beyond that the tiers simply recognise how much you publish, they are not quotas: every filing meets the same bar and the same light edit.

Bronze
1filing a month

The minimum for an active byline: at least one filing a month. Light enough to sit beside a full-time job, but a genuine commitment to the desk.

Silver
2filings a month

For the regulars who make the desk part of their week, with a reach that compounds.

Gold
4filings a month

Exceptional pace, never the expectation. Roughly a piece a week from the prolific few who help lead the masthead.

How Approval Works

Apply

Tell us who you are, your experience and the topics you want to cover. Link to anything that shows your work.

Editor review

A desk editor reviews your application within five working days and, if it is a fit, invites you to pitch.

Pitch and draft

You pitch a specific article. Once accepted, you draft it in your dashboard and submit for review.

Edit and publish

An editor checks accuracy, originality and style, suggests revisions, then publishes it as git-versioned content under your byline.

Two ways to be here

The byline is for the people who run search marketing: agencies managing client accounts, and in-house teams running their own. If your company sells to those marketers instead, a martech or ad-tech tool, a platform or a service, the right fit is a commercial partnership, not a byline. Write to info@byltmedia.com and we will find the way that works.

Application

Apply to write

It takes about ten minutes. We read every application personally and respond within five working days, whatever the outcome.

Before you start

Have a link or two ready that demonstrate your experience: a talk, a case study, a profile, or published writing.

Approved contributors get a dashboard at /dashboard to pitch, draft and submit for review. Create your account once an editor invites you in.
